He was considered a serious student of the Kabuki drama.
Career
In 1910 Endo Ishun joined the Kabukiza Theater, after which in 1915 he becawe in turn director of Shochiku Joint Stock Co., director of Shinbashi Embujo Theater (1926) then standing director of same (1947). Has been prominent in theatrical circles. Among his works is the invaluable book on the stage titled «Encyclopedia of Japanese Dramas and Plays» which he compiled with Kinka Kimura.
