Background
Enjusai Tomimoto was born in 1727 in Fukuoka, Japan. He was the second son of Taemon Shimizu, a retainer of the Chikuzen Clan (Fukuoka Prefecture).

Education
Enjusai Tomimoto left for Edo (now Tokyo) at the age of 16 to study joruri from Komojiaayu Miyakoji.
Career
When his master branched off from the Tokiwazu school to found his own under the name of Buzennojo Tomimoto, Enjusai Tomimoto followed him under the name of Itsukidayu Tomimoto. He became a priest with the name of Enjusai (1794). Enjusai Tomimoto helped Buzennojo II to lay the foundation for Tomimoto-busni. Was considered a good joruri reciter.
