Pond, Enoch was born on July 29, 1791 in Wrentham, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Elijah and Mary (Smith) Pond.

Graduate Brown U. (valedictorian), 1813. Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Dartmouth, 1835. married Wealthy Ann Hawes, August 28, 1814.

Career

July 9, 1839; 14 children. Ordained to ministry Congregational Church, 1815. Editor Spirit of the Pilgrims (periodical opposing Unitarianism), 1828-1832.

With Bangor (Maine) Theological Seminary, 1832-1882, professor theology, 1832-1856, professor of history, 1832-1870, president faculty, 1856-1882. Exponent of the New England Theology. Author: The Young Pastor’s Guide, 1844.
