In 1977 Enrique graduated from National Autonomous University of Mexico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical engineering.
From 1979 to 1989 Enrique Saldivar-Guerra worked as a Researcher at DESC (formerly GIRSA), Mexico City. He held a position of a Research assistant and associate at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1989-1996. From 1996 to 2002 Enrique Saldivar-Guerra was a Senior researcher at DESC Chemical Sector in Lerma, Mexico and chief scientist, since 2002. He is a member of technical committee in Faculty of Chemistry at National Autonomous University of Mexico, since 2000 and he was a member of technical committee at Ibero-American University from 2000 to 2002.
He is a member of American Chemical Society, Mexico Polymer Society (secretary general since 2001).
Enrique is married to Amparo Martinez-Hernandez on February 22, 1985 and has 2 children.
