A retainer of the Takasaki Clan (Gumma Prefecture), he was the son of a chief retainer. He studied the doctrine of Sorai Ogyu under Yuji Ouchi. Besides being well versed in Chinese classics, he was distinguished in martial arts. He died at the age of 23.
