Epeli Nakautoga attended Queen Victoria School from 2002 - 2005. He graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a BSc in Biology and Chemistry in 2010. Later that same year, he joined IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature. He held a few posts in the organization including Water and Nature Initiative Project Assistant to Water and Wetlands Programme Assistant. Epeli is currently IUCN Oceania's Communications Officer.

Epeli was brought up in Tavualevu, Tavua in the province of Ba. However, his father is originally from Tamusua, Yasawa while his mother is from Namara, Kadavu.
Epeli was born in April 1988, in Lautoka, Western, Fiji.
Education
Epeli attended Lautoka Primary School, Penang Sangam Primary School, Queen Victoria School and the University of the South Pacific. Epeli attended Lautoka Primary School from 1994 - 1996. He then continued his Primary School education at Penang Sangam Primary School in Rakiraki from 1997 until 2001. From Rakiraki, Epeli spent his High School years at Queen Victoria School from 2002 - 2005. He didn't complete Year 13 (Form 7) at the school and instead, he went on to the University of the South Pacific to do his Foundation Science year in 2006. He then enrolled for BSc the following year and graduated in 2010.
Career
Epeli is currently the Communications Officer of IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature at the Oceania Regional Office. He acknowledges having to learn under the wing of Dr. Milika Sobey, who played a major role in his career. Apart from work, he is involved in a number of charitable organizations where he likes to support every now and then and these include WOWS (Walk On Walk Strong) Kids Foundation and Suva Golden Oldies Rugby Club. These two organizations highlight the importance of Cancer among Kids and Prostate Cancer respectively.
When Epeli is not working, he is heavily involved in the church as Youth Advisor for Grace Communion International, Fiji congregation. If not, he is usually seen with his extended family. He has paternal links to Tavualevu and Tamusua while having maternal links to Namara, Kadavu. Epeli is the grandson of Talatala Qase Vacegu Pauliasi Vatanitawake. In his spare time, Epeli likes to watch movies, tv series and cook.
