Wounded at Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, October 8, 1862.
Later topographical engineer with 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland. Participated in Sherman’s March to the Sea.
Became connected with Pittsburgh Leader, 1873. Special work, Pittsburgh Dispatch, 1884, writing “The Quiet Observer”. Continued same work with Gazette Times, since 1888, title changed to “Quiet Observations”.
Dramatic critic and book reviewer.
