Instructor department of artillery, United States Arty School, 1900-1903. Chief, Division Militia Affairs, Office Secretary of War, 1908-1911. Member Board Ordnance and Fortifications.

Member War Council of War Department, December 1917-May 1918. Retired for age, by operation of law, May 23, 1918.
