She studied law and public law/political science at the University of Athens, graduating in 1972 and 1974, respectively.
Career
She obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology and political science from the University of Helsinki in 1979. Marcoullis served minister of foreign affairs from July 2007 until March 2008. Then she became minister of communications and works on 2 March 2010 and her tenure lasted until August 2011 when she was secondly appointed minister of foreign affairs
She was succeeded by Ioannis Kasoulidis on 28 February 2013.
