Eric Butterworth introduces the Unity movement - a present-day faith that corresponds with present-day needs. He challenges traditional religion to recognize and teach that: "God is not only the God of history... God is also the God of today." "The Supreme Power of the universe is not locked in ancient Scriptures but is alive in the world now." "Revelation is not a special dispensation of God but a quality of Divine Mind and a faculty of our minds." "What God is revealing to us today may be more important than what God said to us yesterday."

Celebrate Yourself joyously embraces the concept that "every person is an eachness within the allness of God, an integral part of a dynamic universe." Jesus said, "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." (Lk. 12:32). Renowned minister and educator Eric Butterworth makes this interpretation of the above quotation from Luke: "When the ties that bind the mind are broken and a person is introduced to his real self that has no limitations, the bells of heaven ring for joy... As the universe rushes and streams into you from all sides, it is a veritable cosmic celebration of ecstasy. It could be said, and should be, that you are the universe celebrating itself as you." Reverend Butterworth shares knowledge and insights regarding our inborn possibilities for limitless growth. The universality of Eric Butterworth's insights is timeless and clearly revealed in this collection of classic essays.
Breaking the Ten Commandments: Discover the Deeper Meaning
(What is the spirit of the law behind each of the Ten Comm...)
What is the spirit of the law behind each of the Ten Commandments? Take a closer look and rediscover the Ten Commandments as Butterworth reveals, in easy-to-understand terms, the deeper meaning behind the words. You may already claim to live by the Ten Commandments, but do you live from them? As legendary spiritual teacher Eric Butterworth demonstrates in this classic text - reprinted in paperback for the first time - the Commandments hold keys to expanding your moral character, spiritual consciousness, and loving contribution to society. Butterworth encourages you to break the Ten Commandments, not through sinning, but by cutting through archaic language to unlock "hidden" meanings in the biblical text. In doing so, the Commandments become more than a set of laws decreed by a divine dictator. In the same way that Jesus emphasized the spirit of the law over the letter of the law, we can align ourselves with the deeper meaning of the Commandments. Their underlying principles can guide us in achieving meta morality - the highest level of ethical behavior, integrity, authenticity, and spiritual awareness.

"Truth is within - not something to search for but something to awaken to and release. Truth is at the center of you, the mystical point where God becomes you, a point of changeless oneness. To Experience a balanced life and an attitude of confidence and courage, it is important to continually return to the center to deal with life concentrically."

Background
Eric Butterworth was born on September 12, 1916, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was the son of Wilfred Butterworth and May Worsley Butterworth. The couple emigrated from Blackpool, Lancashire, England to Canada with their son, Fredrick Sidney, in 1913. In 1923 the family moved to the United States. He had a sister, May Butterworth.
Education
From 1933 to 1935 Eric Butterworth attended Compton Junior College (now Compton College) and then the California State University, Fresno, from 1935 to 1937. From 1937 to 1938 Butterworth studied music at Capital University. He began training for the ministry at Unity Village in Missouri during World War II.
During his early career, Eric Butterworth taught briefly at the Association of Unity Churches in California and became the national president of Youth of Unity; he was also a staff member at the Unity School of Christianity in Kansas City, Missouri. With the onset of World War II, he served in the Medical Corps as a lieutenant and was also a chaplain. After the war, he returned to Kansas City as an assistant minister for two years and was a pastor in Rockford, Illinois, in 1947.
Ordained a minister in the Unity church in 1948, Butterworth set out with much energy and enthusiasm to establish three Unity ministries: one in Pittsburgh, one in Detroit, and one in New York City, where he also became a popular lecturer, speaking regularly at Town Hall, Carnegie Hall, and, finally, Avery Fisher Hall. While in Detroit, he authored his first book, Unity: A Quest for Truth. In 1961, Butterworth began his ministry in New York City.
Not only were his lecturers popular, but his books also sold well, with his Discover the Power within You (1968) becoming a bestseller. Butterworth authored over a dozen books in all, including Life Is for Loving (1973), Celebrate Yourself (1984), The Universe Is Calling: Opening to the Divine through Prayer (1993), and his last book, The Creative Life: Seven Keys to Your Inner Genius (2001). Religion
Eric Butterworth taught that God isn't "up there." He exists inside each one of us, and it's up to us to seek the divine within." He told, "Prosperity is one of God's greatest gifts to us. A loving Father/Mother God would not want Its children to be in poverty, and it is an axiomatic universal law that prosperity will occur when we do put spiritual practices into business!"

Quotations:
"Things may happen around you, and things may happen to you, but the only things that matter are the things that happen in you."
"The whole Universe is on your side. Life is forever biased on the side of healing, on the side of overcoming, on the side of success. When you get yourself centered in the Universal flow you become synchronized with this divine bias for good."
"There is no such thing as a lack of faith. We all have plenty of faith, it's just that we have faith in the wrong things. We have faith in what can't be done rather than what can be done. We have faith in lack rather than abundance but there is no lack of faith. Faith is a law."
"God is in you as the ocean is in the wave."
"You were born to achieve, to release your inner power, to fulfill your uniqueness."
