Eric Jaeger is an American lawyer who was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1989 after studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston College Law School. He is also known as an emergency medical services educator, attorney, and paramedic in New Hampshire, combining legal training with EMS teaching and clinical work.
Education
Jaeger studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and engineering in 1985. Founded in 1861, MIT became one of the leading American institutions for engineering and science education, a reputation it held during the years of his studies.
He then attended Boston College Law School in Newton, Massachusetts, where he received a Juris Doctor in 1989. Boston College is a Jesuit university, and its law school is a private institution serving the Greater Boston legal community. According to his professional biography, he graduated first in his class, summa cum laude.
He holds paramedic certification from the New England EMS Institute, an EMS school created in 1998 as a division of Elliot Health System in Manchester, New Hampshire. Elliot Health System had provided EMS education since 1985, and the institute offers National Registry EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic courses.
Career
After completing law school, Jaeger was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1989. Admission to the bar authorized him to practise law in Massachusetts, and he worked as a partner in a law practice.
His professional work also includes emergency medical services in New Hampshire. For about ten years he was the EMS educator at Exeter Hospital in the Exeter area, and he served as a senior paramedic on the hospital's paramedic intercept team and in its emergency department. Exeter Health Resources, which owned the hospital, merged with Beth Israel Lahey Health in 2023. The intercept program, which had run for more than thirty years, sent paramedics in a specially equipped vehicle to emergencies in surrounding communities, and the hospital announced its discontinuation in 2024 before the closure was postponed following intervention by the New Hampshire attorney general.
He is also associated with the True North Group, whose website describes him as an emergency medical educator, attorney, and paramedic. His EMS work has focused on the safety of physical restraint and chemical sedation, care for patients with special healthcare needs, medical-legal issues, and advanced airway management. He has presented at multiple national and state EMS conferences.
