He received an Master of Business Administration in 1987 from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
He took office in January 2010. In 2011, he was named to the Poland Seminary High School sports Hall of Fame. He received an Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard College in 1980, where he started at left tackle for the varsity football team
His senior economic honors thesis was on the future of nuclear energy in New England.
He is the Chairman of Ford"s Theatre Society Board in Washington, District of Columbia He lives in McLean, Virginia. Spiegel"s first positions were at Brown Boveri (now ABB) and Temple, Barker & Sloane, Incorporated.(now Oliver Wyman).
He worked at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1986-2008. From 1999-2003, he worked in Tokyo as Managing Director of Booz Allen Hamilton International. office.
He co-authored the 2009 book "Energy Shift: Game-changing Options for Fueling the Future," which has been translated into Spanish (by Armando Valencia), and Japanese.
Spiegel co-authored "America"s Real Manufacturing Advantage," published in Strategy+Business in 2014.

He is also a Director of Liberty Mutual Holding Company, Incorporated., Vice-Chair of the Education and Workforce Committee at the Business Roundtable, and a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Steering Committee. He was an original member of the Board of Directors for Booz & Company and was previously a member of the Board of Directors for Booz Allen Hamilton, Incorporated.
