Career
Verdonk almost repeated his bronze medal effort at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona finishing a very close fourth. His best effort at a World Rowing Championships, in 1990 in Tasmania, Australia, was third. Verdonk began rowing at Westlake Boys High School in Forrest Hill, Auckland, the same school as fellow Olympic Bronze medallist Barrie Mabbott.
