Mr. Wiggin was born in Albion, Maine, United States, on May 10, 1939. He is a son of Eric E. and Pauline Wood (Fuller) Wiggin.
Eric E. Wiggin received his diploma from New Brunswick Bible Institute in 1961. In 1963 he completed his studies at Crossroads Bible College (Fort Wayne), earning Bachelor of Religious Education degree. In 1972 Mr. Wiggin received Master of Science (education) from St. Francis College. He also attended University of Maine.
Between 1965 and 1968 Mr. Wiggin was a pastor at Palermo Baptist Churches, Palermo, ME. He worked as an English teacher at schools in Waterville, ME, from 1966 to 1968, and Fort Wayne, IN, during 1968-1973. In 1973-1974 Mr. Wiggin occupied the post of an English teacher and librarian at Faith Christian School, Fruitport, MI.
He held the position of instructor in English at Piedmont Bible College, Winston-Salem, NC, from 1974 till 1978. During 1978-1979 Mr. Wiggin served as an instructor in English at Glen Cove Bible College, Rockport, ME. In 1979 he became a full-time writer. A bit later Eric Wiggin acted as a substitute teacher and adult Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Wiggin was a freelance reporter for Bangor Daily News, Confident Living, The Maine Paper, Maine Sunday Telegram, Moody Monthly, and Rockland Courier-Gazette during 1979-1984. From 1982 till 1984 she worked as a managing editor for Maine Civic League Record.

1989Eric E. Wiggin married Dorothy Jean Hackney, a cook, on June 1, 1963. They are the parents of four children: Deborah Elizabeth Wiggin Snyder, Mark Ernest, Andrew Eric, Bradstreet Thomas.
