(Beach Management Eric C. F. Bird Geostudies Beach Managem...)
Beach Management Eric C. F. Bird Geostudies Beach Management is the latest book in the Coastal Morphology and Research Series, and deals with the origin of beaches, the processes at work on them, the causes of beach erosion and accretion, and the ways in which the coast has been modified by anti-erosion structures. The emplacement of artificial bleaches, and the use and development of beaches for recreation is also covered. This volume provides background for those concerned with planning and management of the coast (particularly where there are problems of erosion and beach maintenance), beach usage and recreational development. It also provides information and case studies for courses in coastal management.

(The south coast of England has provided a fertile stimulu...)
The south coast of England has provided a fertile stimulus for writers, poets and travellers from Shakespeare's age to the present day. In earlier times the shore was the scene of dramatic invasions, battles and shipwrecks. The juxtaposition of people, localities and artistic creativity is often surprising - from the lighthouse at North Foreland in Kent, which inspired Wilkie Collins with the title of his novel "The Woman in White"; the sea air at Felpham dispensing "The Bread of Sweet Thought" to William Blake; to the brash delights and horrors of Brighton in the 1930s figuring in Graham Greene's "Brighton Rock".
