1927In his many articles and books, Adickes proved himself to be an independent follower of Kant. He was also vehemently opposed to Hans Vaihinger's philosophy of the 'As If ’. Adickes opposed the ideas of materialism, as well as the "monistic natural philosophy", and argued that the material does not exist objectively, that this is a "question of our mind", "state of consciousness." He denied the possibility of scientific knowledge of the objective world.
