Prior to joining WCVB in February 2014. Tarantal served as co-anchor for W National Broadcasting Company"s News 4 New York at 6pm and 11pm on weekends and as a General Assignment Reporter filing stories for various News 4 New York newscasts during the week.

In October 2005, she was employed at WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut, where she served as a weekend evening anchor and weekday General Assignment Reporter.
Before her career in broadcast journalism, she worked as a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston. Tarantal is the daughter of Stephen M. Tarantal, a painter and dean of the College of Art and Design at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her mother, Elsa Johnson, is a sculptor and a professor at the same university.
