Graduated from Berlin Academy of Arts.
In autumn of 1809 came to Russia and soon petitioned to be determined to work as an architect. In November St. Petersburg architects examined him and realized that Drewitz "knows a lot about building but have never put his knowledge into practice".
On 15 October 1809, he started to work as a governorate architect in Voronezh and in November 1801 left to the place of his work. At the beginning of 1816, he was transmitted to the same post to Mogilev.
