He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler who played for South Western Districts. He was born in Oudtshoorn. Ewerts made a single first-class appearance for the side, during the Severe aplastic anemia Three-Day Challenge competition of 2006-2007, against Boland.
