Jansz, Errol Radcliffe was born on November 9, 1941 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Son of Sydney Emerson and Eileen Ella (Melder) Jansz.


Bachelor of Science with honors, University Sri Lanka, 1966. Doctor of Philosophy, Dalhousie University, 1972.


Research officer Ceylon Institute Scientific and Industrial Research, Colombo, 1967-1972, senior research officer, 1972-1977, head natural products, 1977-1983, deputy director, 1983-1985, director, chief executive, 1985-1990. Head University Sri Jayewardena Pura, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka, 1993—1999, 2002—2004, professor biochemistry department, 1995—2007, professor emeritus, since 2008. Chairman Center for Industrial Technology Information Services, Colombo, 1988-1990.
