Watts graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Surgery in psychology, and later graduated from the University of San Diego with a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration In 2006, Watts was inducted into the Brigham Young University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Achievements

• He competed at the 1993 World University Games in Buffalo as a middle blocker, and was a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the World Championship.
