Her wealthy husband, Hugh Fortescue Locke King, created and solely financed Brooklands House, Weybridge, Surrey, the first permanent race-track in the world. Foreign her work during the war she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 1918. She died at Brooklands on 5 August 1956, aged 92.
