Ettore Spalletti was born in 1940 in Cappelle Sul Tavo, Abruzzi, Italy.
Ettore studied art in his home town and attended lectures by the architect Aldo Rossi.
Ettore devoted his career fully to art. Since the mid-70s, Ettore Spalletti has created a language that is suspended between painting and sculpture, focusing on light and space, an approach which is reminiscent of both modern abstract art and the geometry of Renaissance painting. He exhibited at the Documenta in 1982 and 1992. After that he exhibited throughout the world. Currently, Spalletti lives and works in his birthplace Cappelle sul Tavo.
In Ettore's extremely simple, painted columnar forms and monochromatic paintings, Spalletti simultaneously suggests classical structures and explores the formal qualities of paint. Favoring the impasto technique of traditional Italian painting for its depth of color and potential to yield extremely reflective surface textures, Spalletti applies paint to marble and other raw materials to create luminous and sublime three-dimensional paintings.
