He graduated from Medford High School in 1958.He went on to earn degrees from Suffolk University and Suffolk University School of Law.
Career
From 1978 to 1980 he also served as Mayor of Medford a position which, at the time, was chosen by the City Council. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1968, the Federal Bar in 1970, and the United States Supreme Court in 1979. City council
Grant represented Wellington on the Medford City Council from 1972 to 1980.
During his tenure, Grant advocated for fiscal responsibility and the expansion of the city"s business community.
Among the project"s Grant focused on were development in the Wellington district and the revitalization of Medford Square. Mayor
From 1978 to 1980, Grant served as Medford"s Mayor and chairman of its School Committee.
Grant was mayor during the Blizzard of 1978. He led the city through the declared state of emergency and worked with the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and Massachusetts National Guard to provide essential services to the citizens of Medford and mitigate the clean up and restoration costs required to reopen the major arteries of the city.
After leaving politics, Grant continued to practice law.
Although he had a general practice, his specialty was real estate. In 1985, Grant was repeatedly struck by a car driven by Cheryl Tecce, a 24-year-old legal secretary and a former girlfriend of Grant"son Grant died on May 27, 2009 after a battle with leukemia.
