Career

Helped establish daily Freie Presse, at Chicago, 1873. Chief and managing editor California Demokrat, San Francisco, 1877-1880. Chief editor and manager New Jersey Freie Zeitung, Newark, 1880-1883.

City sealer of Chicago, 1887-1889.

Chief statistician and factory inspector under Mayor Washburne. Consul-general at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1897-1906.

United States commissioner, Brazilian Exposition, 1908. President North. America Bahia Development Company.

Now in State of Bahia, Brazil, exporting cabinet woods.
