Eugene Francis Elander was born on August 29, 1937 in Jamaica, New York, United States. Son of Martin Paul and Anne Marion Elander.

Education

Eugene Francis Elander studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which graduated in 1955 recieving Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Then he entered the Bowling Green University, Ohio. In 1959 Eugene became Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Soon after graduation he recieved the degree of Master of Administration in Economy at the University of Pennsylvania(1961). Since 1986 he has been Doctor of Philosophy candidate at the Columbia Pacific University, San Rafael, California.

Career

From 1959 to 1963 worked at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia as an instructor of economics. Then until 1966 he worked as an economics lecturer at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. 1966-1968 - was an assistant professor of administration at Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio. Then 2 years worked at Atlantic Community College, Mays Landing, New Jersey as an associate professor of business. The next 2 years he was an executive director of Opportunities for Broome, Binghamton, New York. In 1973 he was appointed as a regional director of the American Jewish Committee, Boston. In 1973 Elander became executive director of the Jewish Federation of East Connecticut, New London, untill 1983. Between 1974-1983 Eugene worked as a publisher at "Jewish Leader", Los Angeles, California, United States.

Since 1983 he served as a regional director of the Development Corporation for Israel, Hartford, Connecticut with Hartford Area Business Economists and an Executive Vice President at B'nai B'rith Ararat Lodge, New York, United States.

Achievements

• In 1970 Eugene was named as an Outstanding Young Man of America and in 1984 as a Man of Year by NAACP.

Since 1983 he has been a member of the Community Relations Council, Hartford,US. Since 1992 - member of the State Democratic Finance Committee. He is aslo a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Association Professional Personnel.
