Career

Began as pattern maker and moulder, Edgar Thompson Works of Carnegie Steel Company. Successively civil engineer, general superintendent labor and transportation and assistant blast furnace superintendent, Duquesne Works, Carnegie Steel Company, Pennsylvania, 1895-1899. Superintendent and general superintendent Eliza Furnaces, Coke Works, Jones &Laughlin Steel Company, 1899-1911.

Assistant to president Riter-Conley Manufacturing Company, 1912-1915. Vice-president and general manager Witherow Steel Company, 1916-1918. Also president Eureka Fire Brick Works.

Director Pittsburgh, Fisher Scientific Company Commissioned captain engrs., May 20, 1918. Commanding Company G., 21st Engineers, 1st Army American Expeditionary Force, September 1918-May 1919. Participated in St. Mihiel, defensive sector and Meuse-Argonne offensives.

Lieutenant colonel Engineer Reserves, to 1938, now inactive due to age limit.
