Evans was a child prodigy, learning to play piano at five, composing at nine, attending college at eleven, and composing professionally by twelve years of age. He generally composes for independent films. His compositions are often highly complex, dark and atmospheric.
He showed an early propensity towards connecting music and drama.
As early as two years old he slammed his hands down on the bass-end of the piano, left-hand then right-hand and back, making monster sounds and repeating "King Kong coming", showing an innate ability to communicate a visual, in this case of giant creature footsteps, with the sounds produced by musical instruments. Evans began serious music studies at the age of five, starting with piano lessons in group Suzuki Method classes.
Within a year his passion to become a concert pianist grew, and he began studying with various private piano teachers in a search for one that would challenge him and match his needs. He attended University of California, Los Angeles and Nadia Boulanger Institute in Paris.
He apprenticed with several important entertainment industry personalities, including Argentinian film composer, concert composer and pianist Lalo Schifrin.
Evans has been married two times. Evans married composer Michele Rene Evans in May, 1999. They had three children - Elliot, Miranda and Jaden.
Evans married Kathy Evans in August, 2013 in Puerto Morelos, a Caribbean fishing village close to Cancun, Mexico.
They had one child - Camilla. Evans is also a successful semi-professional poker player and is the author of several works offering winning tips.
On the eve of the internet in 1998, Evans created one of the world"s first fully automated online music libraries, CuePop, which connected music makers with media producers. In 1999 Evans founded the record label, E3 Records.
E3 is named after his three initials.
In 2005, Evans created The Composer Collective, a firm of global composers writing, for dozens of projects simultaneously, in teams.
