Background

Hatch, Everard E. was born on July 18, 1859 in Montville, Maine, United States. Son of Enos M. and Kate A. (Newham) Hatch.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1884, Army War College, 1915.

Career

Second Lieutenant 18th Infantry, June 15, 1884. Promoted through grades to brigadier general N.A., August 5, 1917. Duty University of Maine, 1888-1891, Clinton Liberal Institute, Fort Plain, New York, 1894-1895.

Participated in assault and capture of Manila, P.I., August 13, 1898. With regiment at capture of Iloilo, February 11, 1899, and at engagement at Jaro, February 12, 1899. Again in Philippines, 1903-1904 and 1907-1909.

Organized and trained 158th Infantry Brig., August 1917-June 1918. Commanded 154th Depot Brig., June-November 1918, and in charge instruction and training same, November 1918-March 1919, commanded same, March-June 1919. With American Expeditionary Forces, June-August 1919.

Honorary discharge as brigadier general N.A., May 24, 1918. Commanded Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, August since 1919.
