Principal West Gardiner (Maine) Academy, 1859. Professor Oread Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts, 1859-1861. Entered United States Volumes at Boston, May 28, 1861, as private Company I, 2d Massachusetts Infantry.

Became 1st sergeant, Second lieutenant, First lieutenant and captain Company F, same regiment Practicing law, St. Louis, since 1865. Was attorney St. Louis School Board 2 terms. Author: Digest of Missouri Reports (9 vols.).
