Career
Thompson was named an All-American by PrepStar and Superprep magazines, he also helped Kennedy to a co-league championship in his senior year. Thompson was credited with 60 tackles, including 17 sacks, as a senior and selected to play in the Offense-Defense All-America Game in Miami the following his senior year. He was named to the 3A all-state first team as a defensive lineman by the Associated Press, and also made the Seattle Times all-state team
Moreover, he was selected to the All-Seamount League first team as a tight end and as a defensive lineman as a senior, he was one of just four Washingtonians who picked up votes in the Long Beach Press-Telegram "Best in the West" rankings.
He was one of only nine players named a "Northwest Nugget" by the Tacoma News-Tribune, and also made the News-Tribune"s Western 100 rankings. As a junior, teaming with current Husky Nate Williams, helped the Lancers to the state championship game, where they fell in overtime.
He earned first-team all-league at tight end and defensive end as a junior and also made the state semifinals as a sophomore. Thompson was rated the nation"s Number.
13 defensive lineman by Superprep, and listed by Scout.com, Superprep and Rivals.com as the Number.
2 overall prospect in the state of Washington. Scout named him the Number. 122 overall prospect and the Number.
12 defensive end in the country, however Rivals also rated him the Number.
10 "weakside defensive end" and the Number. 176 overall prospect in the nation.
Thompson also played basketball at Kennedy, played football at Kennedy for coach Bob Bourgette.
