Graduated from Yale, 1841. Attended Union Theological Seminary, until 1845. Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Hamilton College, 1864.

Career

Ordained to ministry Presbyterian Church, 1845. Assistant librarian Union Theological Seminary, 1844-1845. Later began McAlpin Collection of British History and Theology.

Most important work The Life and Times of John Huss led to appointment as official historian of Presbyterian Church, 1863.
