(This second volume of the Atlas of Electroencephalography...)
This second volume of the Atlas of Electroencephalography is devoted to the vast subject of epilepsies, covering them according to modern classification criteria: focal epilepsies, generalised epilepsies, epileptic encephalopathies, specific situations and etiologies, and reflex seizures. As in Volume 1, each electroencephalogram shown is analysed to highlight the most significant features that may be useful for diagnosis and interpretation. Emphasis is placed on the most common types of epilepsy because of the practical nature of the book, but some less well known and more confusing forms are also shown. The book provides a summary of current views on the main categories of epilepsy and doctors who carry out EEGs will find it a valuable aid to interpretation. It is also aimed at all doctors who have to deal with epileptic patients, as well as technicians working in neurophysiology laboratories.

( A contemporary, problem-oriented approach to internatio...)
A contemporary, problem-oriented approach to international relations. Why are there wars? Why do countries struggle to cooperate to prevent genocides or global environmental problems? Why are some countries rich while others are poor? Organized around the puzzles that draw scholars and students alike to the study of world politics, this book gives students the tools they need to think analytically about compelling questions like these. In the Second Edition, two new chapters―one on civil war and terrorism and one on international law―bring the book’s successful approach to additional topics. Added features stress real-world applications and provide extensive study and review help, making the authors’ analytical approach even more accessible and engaging.

Tons of people in my class use them and without fail we rave about them after each test!" —Taryn Van Rensburg, Student Nurse at Naugatuck Valley Community College, CT.

( Admirably clear, concise, down-to-earth, and powerful—a...)
Admirably clear, concise, down-to-earth, and powerful—all too often, legal writing embodies none of these qualities. Its reputation for obscurity and needless legalese is widespread. Since 2001 Bryan A. Garner’s Legal Writing in Plain English has helped address this problem by providing lawyers, judges, paralegals, law students, and legal scholars with sound advice and practical tools for improving their written work. Now the leading guide to clear writing in the field, this indispensable volume encourages legal writers to challenge conventions and offers valuable insights into the writing process that will appeal to other professionals: how to organize ideas, create and refine prose, and improve editing skills. Accessible and witty, Legal Writing in Plain English draws on real-life writing samples that Garner has gathered through decades of teaching experience. Trenchant advice covers all types of legal materials, from analytical and persuasive writing to legal drafting, and the book’s principles are reinforced by sets of basic, intermediate, and advanced exercises in each section. In this new edition, Garner preserves the successful structure of the original while adjusting the content to make it even more classroom-friendly. He includes case examples from the past decade and addresses the widespread use of legal documents in electronic formats. His book remains the standard guide for producing the jargon-free language that clients demand and courts reward.
