Pupil of
K. G. Zaleman. Worked at the Asian Museum, 1902-1931. From 1912, senior scientist-keeper.
From 1930, worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies. Specialist on Iranian literature and culture. Wrote many articles on Iran and its art.
Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences.
