Career

Honoured Master of Sports (skiing), 1970. With Moscow Dynamo. Schoolmaster from 1973. USSR champion, 1968-1976.

World champion, 1970. Olympic champion, 1972.

Achievements

  • He won the 4 x 10 km gold and the 15 km silver at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo for the USSR. Simashev also won a complete set of medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, earning a gold medal in the 4 x 10 km (1970), a silver in the 4 x 10 km (1974), and a bronze in the 15 km (1970).
