Education
Born in Zülkowitz (then Prussian Silesia, now Sulków in Poland), he was educated in Leobschütz (Czechoslovakian: Hlubčice, Polish: Głubczyce). He studied Slavic languages at the Faculty of Philology in Innsbruck and in the University of Breslau (German: Universität Breslau. Latin: Universitas Wratislaviensis.
