Background

Fox, Felix was born on May 25, 1876 in Breslau, Germany. Son of Baruch and Bertha Fox.

Education

Brought to the United States in infancy. Studied piano and composition with Reinecke and Jadassohn, in Leipzig, also with I. Philipp in Paris, 2 years.

Career

Settled in Boston, 1898. Active in concert work. Soloist with important symphony orchestras in the United States.

Head of Felix Fox School of Pianoforte Playing, Boston, 1908-1935. Director music department, Miss Porter’s School, Farmington. Connecticut.

    • Composer pianoforte pieces and songs. Editor many musical works. Composer: The King Fishers (an operetta, with George Mitchell), 1932 (produced Repertory Theater, Boston, 1934).

      The Baker of Bunsdorf (an operetta, with George Mitchell), 1933. The White Knight (operetta for puppets with George Mitchell), 1939.
