Served in South Africa, 1899-1902 (severely wounded. Despatches; Companion of the Distinguished Service Order. Queen’s medal, 5 clasps.
King’s medal, 2 clasps). Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900; late Princess Victoria’s (Royal Irish Fusiliers).
