Career

Associate professor National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, 1977-1984. Assistant professor University Pittsburgh, 1984-1988. From associate professor to professor National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, since 1988.

Lecturer University Hong Kong, 1982-1983. Visiting professor Dartmouth College, 1983-1984. Consultant Chiag Jing-Kuo Cultural Foundation, Taipei, since 1996.

Director Center for Taiwan Studies, Hsinchu, since 1996. Acting dean College Humanities and Social Sciences National Tsing Hua University, 1995-1996, chair department foreign languages, 1992-1995.
