Career
Took part in the flowering of genetic research in the USSR in the 1920s. Lecturer in genetics at Leningrad University, 1924. During a trip abroad in 1927, decided not to return to the USSR. Settled in the USA. Professor of Genetics at the Californian Technological Institute.
Professor of Zoology at Columbia University in New York, 1940. Became one of the outstanding American specialists in genetics.
