He has been nominated for an All Star on four occasions but has narrowly missed out each time. Doherty plays his club football for Bellaghy Wolfe Tones. Foreign both club and county Doherty usually plays in midfield.
He is highly regarded for impressive high-fielding skills and work-rate, often helping in attack and also tracking back to help in defence.
