Background
Fernando Fort Marie was born on January 23, 1940, in Lima, Peru. He is the son of Fernando Fort and Violeta Marie Fort, and his family name combines the paternal surname Fort with the maternal surname Marie, in keeping with the Peruvian custom of using two family names.
Lima was Peru's capital and the seat of its principal legal institutions, including the Colegio de Abogados de Lima, the city's bar association. The bar's list of deans begins in 1808, reflecting the long history of organized legal practice in the city.
Education

The law faculty was therefore among the university's founding schools. Engineering and political and economic sciences were added in 1933, and a school of education followed in 1935.
Fernando Fort Marie was first admitted to practice in Peru in 1964. He later became a partner of the Lima law firm Fort, Bertorini, Ibarra, Godoy & Sarmiento, which appears in public listings under the name Fort, Bertorini & Godoy Abogados. Founded in 1977, the firm is regarded as one of the most recognized law firms in Lima, with important Peruvian companies among its clients.
A Peruvian corporate annual report for 2022 describes him as the senior partner of the firm, whose work is mainly devoted to advising companies. The firm's practice areas include corporate, banking, finance, insurance, tax and administrative law.
