Fernando has only secondary education. He didn't have enough time for studying as he dedicated all the time to football but anyway Torres had to go to school as his parents told him:'If you don't go to school, you won't play football'.
When a little boy, Fernando showed his passion for football. At the age of 7 he participated at his first football competition held in his native town. El Nino (Eng. the Kid) started his professional career with Atletico Madrid Football Club in 2001.Since early childhood Fernando has shown a passion for playing football. At the age of 5 he played for Parque 84 football team at the position of a goalkeeper as his brother did. Fernando left for Mario's Holland Football Club where started playing as a striker. He scored 55 goals and later joined the Atletico Madrid club’s youth system in 1995.
Fernando Torres spent 7 seasons with Atletico Madrid FC where he was recognized as a top scorer for 5 times. At the age of 19 El Nino was made captain of Atletico. The team’s fans made him their idol; they believed that their captain would lead the team to the victory.
Having won the 2001 UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship Torres was later called to the senior national team. He debuted in a friendly match against Portugal on 6 September 2003.
In 2007 Fernando transferred to Liverpool Football Club for which El Nino had wanted to play. Even though he was the captain of Atletico a few years ago Torres had the Liverpool’s motto ‘You’ll never walk alone’ on the back side of his captain’s armband. Torres debuted for Liverpool on 11 August 2007. Four days later he made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League. He scored 33 goals in the 2007-08 season.
In 2008 Torres was called up to the National team within the UEFA European Championship frameworks. The team took pains to reach the final. And they managed. The winner goal was scored by Torres who later was named the man of the match in the Final against Germany.
While playing the third season in a Liverpool shirt, Torres agreed to sign a new contract with the club on 14 August 2009. El Nino finished the 2009-10 season with 22 goals in 32 games in all competitions and was recognized as Liverpool's top scorer for the second time.
The season of 2010-11 was the last for Torres in Liverpool and he left for Chelsea FC.
In 2010 Spanish National team wrote down the name of their country on the World Cup.
In 2012 Fernando Torres was called up for participating at UEFA European Championship. The National Team managed to reach the consecutive final in which Torres scored a goal and assisted another. That brought him the Golden Boot for the tournament.
Torres has been playing in a Chelsea shirt for the third season. He wears number 9 for both Spain and Barcelona shirts.
