Firuz MELIKOV, USSR Zootechnician. President, Azerbaydzhan Academy, of Agriculture Science; full member, All-Union Lenin Academy, of Agriculture Science, since 1948; full member, Azerbaydzhan Academy of Sciences, since 1949; Honoured Worker of Science of Azerbaydzhan Soviet Socialist Republic since 1941; Professor, Azerbaydzhan Agriculture Institute, since 1939. Order of Lenin; two other orders; medals; Stalin Prize, 1947.
Education
1927 graduated Azerbaydzhan Polytechn. Institute.
Career
1926-1939 lecturer, from 1939 professor, dean and deputy director, Azer Agric Institute. Also deputy director. Veterinary Research Institute, director of an experimental stock-raising station and Azer First Deputy Min of Agric.
1958-1960 president, Azer Academy of Agric Sciences. In latter years professor, Chair of Genetics and Darwinism, Azer State Institute. Also worked on sheep-breeding and bred the Azer highland Merino, a high-yield strain of sheep.

Member, Communist Party, since 1945.
