Worked in USSR 1940-1943. In Red Army 1943; volunteer, Tadeusz Kosciuszko First Infantry Division 1943. Commander of subunit, subsequently lecturer Tadeusz Kosciuszko Infantry Officers’ School, worked in cen. insts. of Ministry of National Defence, commdr. different tactical units.

Mil., Air and Naval Attache of Embassy in People's Republic of China 63. Chief of Staff, Silesian Mil. District 1963-1968, District Commander 1968-1971.

1st Deputy Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces 1971-1973. Chief of General Staff, Deputy Minister of National Defence 1973-1983, Minister of National Defence 1983-1990. Deputy member PZPR Central Committee 1969-1975.

Deputy to Sejm 1976-1989.
