Chun Foo-chun went to Batavia to engage in educational work among the overseas Chinese Community in 1906. He began to be interested in business in 1911, promoting the sale of Chinese commodities in Dutch East Indies. For the following ten years, he was engaged in the manufacture of medicine and toilet articles and in the publishing business. Mr. Chun was a compiler and author of the several books.
Mr. Chun was an enthusiastic welfare worker among the Chinese community in Java, being a director of the Chinese Guild, of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and of various Chinese schools in Java. He was well-known as an inventor of the "Bedak Virgin" face powder which enjoyed a great sale in the Straits Settlements.
