Hooker, Forrestine Cooper was born on March 8, 1867 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Daughter of Charles Lawrence (brigadier general United States of America) and Flora (Green) Cooper (father organized Rough Riders, and named by Theodore Roosevelt, “Father of the Rough Riders”).
Education
Graduated from St. Joseph’s College, Philadelphia, 1884 (valedictorian). Student Pierce Business School, Philadelphia, 1910, 11.
Career
Assisted in cattle work on Hooker ranches, 1886-1901. Later assisted live stock inspector, Willcox. Arizona, and in cattle commission business until 1904.
On editorial staff, Los Angeles Examiner, 1912-1913. Reorganized department and acted as secretary and manager court cases Los Angeles City and County Humane Society for Children. Served as special preliminary investigator on failure to provide, under late Thomas Lee Woolwine until 1915, also active in political work.
Assisted in promotion Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Welfare Bureau, Los Angeles, World War.
