He died 31 October 1967 in Eastwood Manor, Somerset. A first-class cricketer for Gloucestershire. Captain of Gloucestershire 1919-1923.

Knighted 15 July 1958.

Achievements

• Breeder and owner of the winner of the 1964 Oaks, Homeward Bound, and Merchant Venturer, second to Relko in the 1963 Derby.
