Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Excerpt from Little Pillows: Or Good-Night Thoughts for the Little Ones A little girl was away from home on a week's visit. We will suppose her name was Ethel. The first night, when she was tucked up in bed, and just ready for a good-night kiss, I said, "Now, shall I give you a little pillow?" Ethel lifted her head to see what was under it, and said, "I have got one, Auntie!" "It was another sort of pillow that I meant to give you; I wonder if you will like it?" “The Royal Invitation” is one of five devotional books contained in the Royal Gems collection written by Frances Ridley Havergal in the 1880s. In our original edition of Royal Gems, a beautiful cursive handwriting decorates the inside cover with a name and the date of March 22, 1896. We can only imagine how often the recipient read and gleaned from the riches within. Nearly 120 years later however, we are also privileged to partake of this Scripture-filled devotional, now in a digital format. “The Royal Invitation” is a 31 day devotional book that embraces the many requests from God’s Word for us to ‘come’ to Him. When Jesus said to the disciples “Come follow Me,” it was a royal invitation of His kingly love, which He offers to us even now. Indulge your heart with this wonderfully-composed devotional that will bless your soul and elicit praises for our King of kings.

Havergal was born into an Anglican family, at Astley in Worcestershire. Her father, William Henry Havergal (1793–1870), was a clergyman, writer, composer, and hymnwriter.
In 1852/3 she studied in the Louisenschule, Düsseldorf, and at Oberkassel.
Take My and Let it Be and Thy for Maine (also known as I Gave My for Thee) are two of her best known hymns. She also wrote hymn melodies, religious tracts, and works for children. Otherwise she led a quiet life, not enjoying consistent good health.
She travelled, in particular to Switzerland.
She supported the Church Missionary Society. Frances Ridley Havergal died of peritonitis near Caswell Bay on the Gower Peninsula in Wales at age 42.
Her sisters saw much of her work published posthumously. Havergal College, a private girls" school in Toronto, is named after her.
The composer Havergal Brian adopted the name as a tribute to the Havergal family.
Take my life, and let it be.
