Career

Began with Garry McGarry Stock Company, 1927. At New Playwrights Theatre, New York City, 1927-1928. With Katherine Cornell’s Age of Innocence, New York City, 1928-1929, Theatre Guild, 1929-1931, Group Theatre, 1931-1932.

With Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Culver City, California, since 1932. Now heads own film company Director Screen Actors’ Guild.
